Knowte Transcribe Privacy Policy
Effective date: 21 August 2026
Knowte Transcribe ("Knowte") is developed by LoveBuzz, a business name of Tim White ("we", "us", or "the developer"). This policy explains how Knowte handles recordings, transcripts, account details and other information.
The short version
Knowte does not require a Knowte account. The app does not send your recordings, transcripts, API credentials or instructions to Knowte or its developer. Your content is stored on your device unless you choose to send it to a processing provider, export it or share it.
When you use a cloud account, Knowte sends the information needed to perform the requested transcription or formatting directly from your device to the account and endpoint you selected. That provider processes the information under its own terms and privacy policy.
The iPhone and iPad app displays a Google AdMob banner. Advertising is separate from transcription: Knowte does not send audio, transcripts, imported files, credentials, custom headers or formatting instructions to Google for advertising.
Information stored on your device
Depending on the features you use, Knowte stores locally:
- audio recordings and imported text files;
- raw and formatted transcripts, timestamps, speaker labels and transcript version history;
- recording names, dates, durations, folders, tags, lock status and processing status;
- formatting instruction sets, transcription hints, language and detail preferences, selected models and other app settings;
- account names, provider types, endpoint addresses and model selections; and
- API keys, tokens and custom HTTP headers. Credentials and custom headers are stored in the Apple Keychain.
This information provides the app's recording, organisation, transcription, formatting, playback, history and export features. Knowte does not provide this content to advertising providers. Apple may include app data in an encrypted device or iCloud backup according to your device and backup settings.
Information sent for transcription and formatting
Nothing is sent to a cloud processing provider until you request an operation that needs that provider. Depending on the operation and account, Knowte may send:
- an audio recording or audio chunks for transcription;
- imported text, a raw transcript or a previous transcript for formatting;
- your selected formatting instructions;
- transcription hints when both the selected provider and model are known to support them;
- language, timestamp or speaker-label options where supported;
- selected model identifiers and other technical request information; and
- the API credential or custom headers required to authenticate the request.
The provider may also receive ordinary network information such as your IP address and request time. Knowte's developer does not receive a copy of these requests or responses.
Processing accounts and third parties
- Apple Intelligence: supported transcription and formatting use Apple's on-device frameworks. Availability depends on the device, language, region, operating system and enabled Apple features. See the Apple Privacy Policy.
- OpenAI: content is sent directly to OpenAI's API. See OpenAI's business data privacy information and Privacy Policy.
- OpenRouter: content is sent to OpenRouter, which may route it to the selected model provider. See OpenRouter's Privacy Policy.
- Groq: content is sent directly to Groq's API. See Groq's Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini: content is sent directly to Google's Gemini services. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Microsoft Azure OpenAI: content is sent directly to the configured Azure endpoint. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Generic custom endpoint: content, credentials and custom headers are sent to the endpoint you enter. The endpoint operator's terms, security, logging, storage, model-provider and privacy practices apply.
Provider retention, abuse monitoring, regional processing, training controls and deletion options vary by provider, account type, contract and configuration. Knowte cannot access or delete data held by a provider.
Advertising in the mobile app
The iPhone and iPad version displays a banner advertisement supplied by Google AdMob. The Mac and Apple Watch versions do not display advertising. The Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google's User Messaging Platform request ads, record privacy choices and show a consent form where required.
Google may receive or process information such as your IP address, device and advertising identifiers, approximate location, advertising data, interactions with the ad or app, consent choices, and diagnostic or performance information. Depending on your location, device settings, consent choices and applicable law, Google may serve personalised or non-personalised advertising and use information for advertising measurement.
Where required, Knowte asks for your advertising consent before requesting ads. In Europe and other regulated regions, the consent message offers choices to consent, not consent, or manage individual purposes. Knowte follows the choice you make and continues to provide all app features if you decline.
Knowte may also show a short explanation before Apple's system tracking permission. If you tap Allow, Google may use the device's advertising identifier to make ads more relevant and measure them. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, Knowte does not access that identifier and ads can still be shown using methods permitted by your consent and device settings. Knowte never makes recording, transcription, formatting or export features conditional on advertising consent or tracking permission.
You can change Apple's tracking permission later in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. Where Google requires privacy choices to remain available, Knowte provides Ad privacy choices in API Settings so you can review or change those choices.
Important warning about HTTP custom endpoints
http:// for trusted local or private services. HTTP does not provide transport encryption or server identity verification. Credentials, custom headers, recordings, transcripts and instructions sent over HTTP may be read or altered by other parties on the network. HTTPS is strongly recommended for all other use.Exports, deletion and retention
You can export or share audio and transcripts using system share or save panels, including Markdown, plain text, PDF and Microsoft Word .docx files. The destination you select receives that information under its own privacy policy. Temporary export files are normally removed after the share flow closes.
Recordings, transcripts, versions, tags, folders and metadata remain on your device until you delete the recording or uninstall the app. Confirmed deletion removes the saved source file and local index entry. Temporary chunks and superseded segment files are also cleaned up.
Confirmed account deletion removes the account's local configuration, API credential and custom headers from the Keychain. It does not delete recordings already processed or information retained by a provider. Exported copies, provider-held information and device backups must be managed separately.
Customer support and disclosure
If you contact the developer, we receive the contact details and message content you choose to provide. We use it to respond, investigate, maintain support records and meet legal obligations. Do not send sensitive content unless necessary.
We do not sell recordings, transcripts, credentials, support correspondence or other personal information we hold. Google may process advertising and device information and may engage in tracking where permitted by your settings, consent choices and applicable law. Knowte does not provide transcription content or API account data to Google for advertising.
We may disclose information we actually hold when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety and security. We cannot disclose app content that remains only on your device.
Website information
The LoveBuzz website is separate from Knowte. It is hosted using Firebase Hosting, with Cloudflare providing authoritative DNS. We do not add website analytics, advertising or marketing cookies. Hosting and network providers may process ordinary request information such as your IP address, requested URL, browser details and request time for delivery, security, diagnostics and abuse prevention. Website requests are not linked to recordings or transcripts stored in Knowte.
Security and your choices
Knowte uses Apple platform data protection for its local recording index and the Apple Keychain for API credentials and custom headers. Cloud requests normally use HTTPS except when you deliberately configure a generic HTTP endpoint. No method can be guaranteed completely secure.
You control the active account, whether to use on-device or cloud processing, what content to process and where to export it. You can delete recordings and accounts, remove the app, and—where required—revisit Google advertising consent through Ad privacy choices.
For provider-held data, use that provider's privacy and deletion tools. For support information held by us, contact LoveBuzz below.
Children and recording other people
Knowte is not directed to children under 13. Do not use Knowte in breach of age restrictions imposed by Apple or a selected provider.
You are responsible for complying with applicable consent, surveillance, employment, confidentiality and data-protection laws when recording or processing another person's voice or information. Obtain any permission required before recording or uploading content.
International processing
Cloud, advertising and hosting providers and their subprocessors may process information in countries other than your own. Their policies and your account or contract describe the applicable safeguards and locations. Supported Apple Intelligence operations avoid sending transcription content to a configured third-party API.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when Knowte's features, providers or legal requirements change. The effective date identifies the latest version. Material changes will be reflected in the policy and, where appropriate, in the app or release notes.
